Changing Ways

The last half of the 19th century was a time of great change for the Blackfoot people of the Canadian prairies. The coming of the American whiskey traders, the extermination of the buffalo, and the arrival of the missionaries and the NWMP were all factors leading to the end of their nomadic way of life. Through hands-on activities and role-playing, students will examine how their life changed and the role the NWMP and missionaries played in this turbulent time.
