The Fort Museum

Association

The Fort Macleod Historical Association is a not-for-profit organization that was formed in 1956 and is operated by a volunteer board of directors. Our mission is to captivate and inspire audiences through authentic storytelling, engaging experiences, and dynamic community connections. The Executive Director and Collections Manager are responsible for the fulfillment of this mission, with the assistance of our seasonal staff.

NWMP Musical Ride

We are not the official RCMP Musical Ride. Our NWMP Musical Ride is a re-enactment of the ride performed by the North West Mounted Police, which originated before the RCMP’s ride.

Special Events

Throughout the year we host various events including Canada Day celebrations, Heritage Day celebrations, and the “Ride through the Ages” event. We also frequently host a Halloween event called “The Fort of Terrors” and are open during the Santa Claus Parade in Fort Macleod.

Donation Procedure

Our donation procedure is overseen by our Collections Manager and Collections Committee. Those wishing to donate an artifact must fill out an Intent to Donate form. Following this the Collections Committee will review the artifact, which includes ensuring that it aligns with our mission, and then decide to accept or decline a donation.

Archival Collection

Those wishing to obtain historical information from our archival collection can submit a research request. While our Collections Manager will search the collection to the best of their ability, it is not guaranteed that we will have a significant amount, or any, material relating to your request. Please contact us for the research fee schedule.

Facility Rental

The Fort Museum offers facility rentals for groups. Our theatre room can fit up to thirty people with tables and chairs or sixty people with only chairs. Catering options are available.
